Del Brown, night driver for Baxter Transfer Barn, discovered Mrs Martha Duff s residence burning about 2 0 clock Tuesday morning and woke those inside. The top of the house was in flames, and all occupants escaped with only a trunk and bed saved. Mr and Mrs Frank Nicholas lost all belongings. the house appears a total loss with little insurance. W T Walters manager for the Quapaw Gas Company at Miami was badly bruised when a Frisco engine struck him in the back as he walked along the north yards toward the Frisco station. He was knocked about thirty feet, picked up by Karl Kain and taken to Dr. Boswell's office with multiple bruises and contusions. The near fatal impact underscored the danger of the area.
