Governor-elect W J Bailey to be installed January 12 with legislature meeting January 13. Joint sessions set January 2 and January 21 to elect a state printer and United States senator. Chas Stephens of Columbus visited. E V McNeill ill this week. First ice of season observed on Wednesday. Dode Meeds shipped hogs to Kansas City. F G Crose and daughter Mildred in Kansas City. Thanksgiving exercises well rendered with decorated rooms and inviting setup.
Construction on the Mineral Cities Electric Railway route is now underway over the most extensive section. Captain Frank Moore of Joplin says maps and specifications will be filed in Cherokee county within days and the project could cost five thousand dollars per mile on current land.
Topeka reports that Representative Babe Wagoner of Atchison will introduce a winter resolution to resubmit the prohibition question. The measure is likely to pass as many Republicans favor resubmission, arguing prohibition has failed, and calling it a child of the Republican party.

Attorney General rules that first and second class city justices of the peace are township officers and must be elected in even year fall elections. Those now serving will hold over until next election, granting an extra year. Other local notices follow: a band benefit, drug store holiday stock, divorce suit, visits, Presbyterian fair, a birthday party, and Guthrie versus Oklahoma City rail link dispute.
