Jail Door Frame Sparks Drunkenness Case In Picher
In Picher Oklahoma on April 20 a frame door from the men’s holdover to the women’s ward blocked a drunken prisoner’s escape with a steel grate. A women’s ward was fitted with three beds and four women were arrested for vagrancy last night. Eight arrests were made, four for drunkenness and four for vagrancy. Two girls before Judge Henderson were fined five dollars and costs and ordered to leave town in 48 hours as their husbands are in the army.

Red Cross to unify Cherokee County branches in planned central chapter
Baxter Springs branch officials met with Miss Edna Wells from St. Louis to align Cherokee County units under a single county chapter. Galena may join. Columbus and Baxter would be branches.
