Lead and zinc land sublease sale near Lebanon

A twenty acre tract in Lebanon was sold for 40000 by Fred H. Lynch for the Lebanon Lead and Zinc Co. Purchasers include C H Bantley of Kansas City, C W Rose of Springfield, and O S Aycock of Lebanon. Tulsa Lead and Zinc Co. holds the first lease. seven drill holes showed a 25 foot ore face averaging 11 percent. The Lebanon Co. gains 5 percent through development. buyers to pay 25 percent. Mr and Mrs Walter Sullivan drove to Joplin on Saturday.

Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Celebrate 98th Anniversary in Baxter Springs

About 1,000 members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs observed their 98th anniversary on a rainy Thursday in Baxter Springs. Despite delays and rain, the event proceeded with a parade of roughly 25 autos and a smoothly run program.

The last council meeting covered committee appointments and broad business. Bridges on Spring branch and Military street were discussed and sent to Streets and Alleys for details. A bid by G W Van Dusen for a Spring street foot bridge was referred for consideration. The East half of lots nine and ten in block 35 were offered to Van Dusen at cost, subject to disposal approval. An ordinance allowed Standard Oil Co to build tanks and related facilities along the Frisco track after time, with pipe work through streets. The Frisco Railroad was asked to replace South street planks and provide a watchman for traffic safety. Stock running at large was condemned and owners warned of drastic action. Neosho Street graveling was approved. C M Cooper was named city engineer for spring branch and military street rebuilds. Councillors Conner and Barnes to meet Cooper to outline preferred bridge types.
