Notice states that all taxed dogs paid by May 1, 1912 will be killed on sight unless the owner pays the tax. To keep a dog, pay the tax to the undersigned or to B. W. Patton, City Clerk. Henry Horton, City Marshal.
Warning notice from April 22 1912 by Henry Horton marshal and Dr N A Bailey osteopathic physician. It states that stock found running at large or tied where they can cross the roadway will be impounded. Phone 25.
The Standard Land Company announces a May special excursion Tuesday May 7 through Baxter Wednesday May 8 with a free Galveston side trip. This is likely the last chance for farmers to join and view winter crop harvests yielding from 400 to 1000 dollars. Agent S W Coglizer urges prompt arrangements.
William Kenefick plans to build the Wagoner to Joplin road as soon as possible. A survey shows a line via Pittsburg, but local officials expect Baxter Springs to receive the route after a Grand River area boom. In a flood rescue, Wallie Black, Harry Black, and Bert Douthit saved Bert from the Current River. Wallie and Bert’s rescues prompted calls for Carnegie hero medals for the rescuers.
S W Coglizer visited last Saturday with a Texas produce display including corn nine feet high cabbages eight to ten pounds and a variety of vegetables and fruits. The exhibit showcased the irrigated region’s bounty and sparked housewife interest for Sunday meals. Another excursion is planned for the first Tuesday in May with a special train through the city on May 8.
May fifth marks the Fourth Sunday after Easter at St Mark's Church. The Collect asks God to fix hearts on true joys in obedience, with Epistle from James 1:17 and Gospel John 16:5. Evensong and sermon every Sunday night at eight.

Galena Times reports a proposed extension of the Southwest Missouri Electric line from Galena to Baxter Springs. The News has not confirmed the story but the project would be welcomed if true, potentially improving local roads and service.
The Relief Corps hosts a Voucher Day dinner at Grand Army hall on Saturday May 4 with ample seating and a fine meal. The Post has spent much to fix up the hall and invites all to attend. Miss Leila Allman of Route 1 visited her sister Mrs P D Hartley here.
Floods driven by sustained rain flood Spring river banks rising about 1.5 feet higher than last year. Land and road damage widespread with bottom farms inundated. Rail service disrupted as Katy trains detoured over Frisco lines via Baxter Springs and Monett. Galena water works underwater. Frisco tracks east of Galena washed out. Neosho river also out of banks. No cyclones reported unlike nearby Oklahoma.

Meanwhile Baxter residents are urged to order monuments for Decoration Day with Columbus Monumental Works offering ready stock and designs. John Jones seeks re election as justice of the peace, citing strong local support and a guaranteed win.
All the ladies are cordially invited to an afternoon social on May 9 at Mrs Walter Sullivan's, hosted by the Presbyterian Aid. Mrs Will Gregory entertained about eighteen of the young people from the Chi Easter exercises on the lawn of her home last Saturday afternoon. Refreshments were served on the lawn.
