Local garden shop invites customers to view a broad assortment of plants and seeds for an upcoming season. Shoppers can expect guidance on choosing flowers and vegetables and planning a productive garden.
Tesse Fancher, son of Mr and Mrs W B Fancher, left home west of the city on Wednesday night with Henry Thompson who worked for the family. Neighbors describe Jesse as a good boy and say he was coaxed away, a regrettable mistake given his good home and bright future.
City treasurer releases a financial statement detailing funds totals 13955.42 with current bills paid since March 15. Interest on city money amounts to about 300 annually. Seven thousand dollars of debt paid in three years and a sinking fund created. Citizens urged to consider continued progress and reelect Mayor Jones if satisfied with improvements.
The speaker believes Jesse will repent his error and return to the farm, where no place compares to a good home. The line expresses longing for stability, home life, and the comfort of farming roots.

Reports note large attendance at Bulgin meetings with a forceful speaker using simple language. The choir is sizeable and music is commendable. The editor questions the duration of the meetings but believes they will continue while beneficial. Also queries the source of beer served at the keg party in the north part of town on Saturday night March 18.
O. C. Rummel, nominated from the First ward on the Citizens ticket and once said not to run, announces he is a full fledged candidate and asks friends and supporters to back him for creditable ward and city representation.
Last Friday Deputy Sheriff Geo Moyer from Columbus arrested R J Bland and Chas Dixon on a warrant sworn by County Attorney Majors for violating the prohibitory law. Bland and Dixon posted bond in Columbus for their appearance.
Herb Paxson observed three wild geese feeding on Paxson wheat Thursday and took a successful stealth shot, bringing down two with one round. The following day Charlie Paxson and his family enjoyed goose meat from the game.
Patrol warns that any person found trespassing on the premises of the old Baxter Lor Co yards will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Baxter Springs merchants plan Booster Day on Saturday April 1 inviting all residents to shop and trade. The event aims to draw visitors from the region with selling of butter eggs livestock and other goods. A rest room will be provided for visiting ladies and children and conveniences will be available.
