Last Wednesday night the Builders of the M. E. Sunday school held a party at Dr. and Mrs. M. I. Nichols home with Shamrocks decor. A bargain sale and guessing contests entertained guests. Refreshments were served. The S. P. and H. club met at Mrs. Dills home last Friday afternoon with dainty refreshments. Mrs. C. A. Diveley hosts this Friday. The Reciprocity Club met at Mrs. W. T. Hartley home Tuesday afternoon with a luncheon. Mrs. T. J. Morrow hosted the Bridge Club last Wednesday. Guests included Mrs. Samuel Binns and Mrs. W. H. Horner. Mrs. J. H. Boswell won the prize. The Carnation Card Club met at Mrs. W. M. Smith Tuesday with refreshments and Mrs. C. C. Rummel taking the prize.

The Royal Arch Masons No 78 entertained over sixty five on Monday night. Attendees came from Joplin Galena Columbus and Miami. The Joplin chapter exemplified the work and conferred degrees on Will Harvey Walter Hartley and Edward G Polster. A scarlet themed banquet featured hand painted place cards scarlet carnations and a menu including fried chicken salad mashed potatoes and giblet gravy.
Owing to Captain Eastham’s injury Mrs. Eastham will present the play Brownies in Fairyland for one night only this Thursday. The performance is limited to a single evening due to the captain’s condition.
St. Mark's Church notes Sunday before Easter with a Collect praising Jesus Christ and asking for patience and participation in his resurrection. Eight young girls will perform a fan dance Thursday night in the Brownsies at the opera house.
Miss Hayzelle Pigg daughter of Mr and Mrs Ransom Pigg of Route 5 married Sunday night March 24 to Mr Sam Hutchison who lives east of the city. Justice Frank Hopeman officiated. Mrs Hutchison, a Baxter High School junior, plans to locate in Missouri. Also noted: Leroy King, owner of Kings Cafe, left town last Saturday night leaving debts from 95 cents to 30 dollars.
E. C. Lacerss announces a new shoe shop occupying the former Polster Bros. room next to Kane's drug store. He has hired E. W. Smith to manage operations and invites local customers to share in the business opportunity.
Wm Campbell of Galena announces his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for probate judge, subject to the will of the party at the primary.
