The News announces J. O. Treece as a Citizens ticket candidate for mayor, subject to the election decision on April 6, 1915. Treece declares he is a Democrat and pledges to uphold law and order, justice to all, and impartial service to Baxter Springs.
Spring cleaning drives tell residents to prepare for next week in Baxter Springs. Free collection of yard waste and minor trash from residences. items must be in alley or street for wagon pickup. Also note public auction in Lowell on March 31 by Mrs. A L Norris for horses farm implements and household goods with W T Hertley as auctioneer.

A man once trusted for truth claims it snowed 147 times across Friday to Monday. The brief mentions snowing every few minutes, yet no marks formed due to insufficient moisture, though the moisture supposedly wasn’t needed.
On Thursday night March 25 a good roads meeting will be held at Blue Mound school house. Several Joplin and Galena fellows have expressed willingness to help build the rock road. A good crowd is hoped for.

The Poinsettia Club met at Mrs. Fred Nichols home on Wednesday the seventeenth with a green St Patrick luncheon. Guests included Mrs. Hope Mrs. Carmichael and Mrs. Herbert Gaba. The Builders Sunday School class hosted a St Patrick party at Mr and Mrs Will Hartleys home with shamrock decor a green pond centerpiece and a floral contest. Kaltenbach and Gresser sang solos and green ice cream was served. The Hartleys observed their fourteenth wedding anniversary with a special basket and ode from the class.
A group of road supporters from near Melrose met at Blue Mound schoolhouse on Tuesday night. They plan to build the rock road on the Chetopa route and will raise as much or more money than rivals from the middle road.
Baxter Supply Co offers a $1.25 water set to the farmer bringing the most eggs this Saturday March 27. Last Saturday the count was eight cases and hunger for eggs remains. Premium paid at 4 pm.

Miss Helen Parker and Master Walter Howard of Louisiana visit grandfather Dr R B English and Mrs English.
