Memorial Building Fund Plan Outlines City Drive
A committee of seven outlined a centralized 64 member fundraising structure to raise 25 000 for a memorial building in Baxter Springs. Four wards divided. a General, Captains and 12 lieutenants to oversee subscrip tions with government bonds accepted. About 25 000 already subscribed with similar amounts in sight and plans to reach 100 000. Meetings scheduled for tomorrow evening in the city assembly room with participants from Joplin Syracuse Akron Parkersburg Manistee Wilson and other cities.

Survived by two stepsons two stepdaughters in England and two grandsons Will and George Meers plus siblings in Massachusetts Kentucky and Pennsylvania Funeral set for 3 PM Tuesday at Tilton Methodist Church with Springhill Cemetery interment.

Blaworth A Mapes born December 29 1889 in Mt Pleasant Pennsylvania died March 16 1919 at National Military Home Kansas from cardiac dilation after December eye treatment. He moved to Moline Illinois at 14, married Hanna Goodlow and had son Chas W Mapes of Portland Oregon. His first wife died in 1862, he remarried Sarah E Swank in 1892 and had child Elsworth E Mapes. He moved to Kansas in 1894. He leaves wife, two sons, five stepchildren and two sisters. Funeral at Lincoln Street home by Mrs Lou Love Galena. Interred Baxter Cemetery.
