Mrs J H Chubb Dies Suddenly In Cherokee City
Martha Ann Chubb born New York June 16 1847 moved to Illinois before marriage to James H Chubb. They moved to Cherokee county about 30 years ago and she leaves seven children Otis J O Alva D Rolla Floyd and Mrs Dan Miller plus Anson who disappeared in Cripple Creek. Funeral at Methodist Church conducted by Rev Rhoades. interment Baxter cemetery. W A Braman of Neutral is a brother.

Carthage and Baxter Teams See Long Clean Ball Classic
Last Sunday at the local diamond a tight eleven inning game grew tense as Carthage and Baxter battled. Carthage won five to four with Baxter praised as the best visiting team and both sides playing clean defense. Columbus eyes Baxter next, Geo Sikes sells his feed yard to Jud Watson who plans new equipment and a grind mill to boost trade.
