The Pearl advertises cash for groceries at 80 Jow price and claims to pay the highest for butter eggs chickens and all produce. It denounces double profit billing and says traders should maximize value for buyers, inviting customers to trade where they can get more for their money.
Amelia Elizabeth Van Fossen born January 11, 1846 in Appleton Ohio was the only daughter of We and Mary J Van Fossen. She married Allen Rakestraw December 6 1860 and had two children Ella Labadie and Luther who died in infancy. She died July 22 and is buried in Baxter cemetery beside husband and daughter and two grandchildren. The News Publishing Co announces this is the final issue under current management. A. E. Pfremmer of Hutchinson Kansas will take charge Saturday July 29. The editors explain rising material costs force a price increase and thank readers for liberal patronage while pledging support to Pfremmer.
