The Blatz products of Milwaukee have held popularity for sixty years due to original brewing lines and strong character. Riley F. Robertson is the local distributor. Also notes illnesses, bridge work, sidewalk projects, a music club gathering, upcoming gang plow season, and a marriage at Minister Parham's home.
M O G president William Kenefick visited Tuesday with chief engineer Joe Harrison and road attorney Mr Miller. They expect construction on the Baxter Springs road to start within two to three weeks, with limited additional details available at present.
A notice urges quick replies to reserve tent locations for an expected large turnout at the coming reunion. The missive notes many visitors from Joplin Galena Columbus Eubanks Oklahoma City and Benton Ill along with local business ties. It also mentions products from Hood s John Deere and a new rail line from Quapaw to Lincolnville mines and reports the death of William Alfred Wheatley in Joplin with reference to his marriage and family.
Dr Youse, leasing the Scott Jarrett farm five miles west, reported a rich ore strike in the first bore drilled, with coal at forty feet and lead and jack near one hundred feet. The ore resembles the Hattenville camp, suggesting a continuation of that ore run. Jim Barnes is drilling three miles west, expecting ore. A L Jones near Starrett farm west of the city plans development. Youse aims to secure capital to develop the strike.
The price of ore has spurred plans for Bax ter camp activity. A mill is to be built on the Ewart land where Reed and associates opened a rich ore body. Chris Newlands will sink a new shaft as ore dips southeast from pump and mill shaft. The White Eagle mill of Eastman Investment Co may be commissioned soon after overhaul. Hawkeye is expected back in production this summer and the Mission may resume operations shortly.
Books for the registration of voters are now open at my office in the News building. If you voted at the last regular election and have not moved your residence, you need not register, but movers must register. Books close Friday evening July 26, 1912. B. W. Patton, City Clerk.
A car load of bale ties from American Steel and Wire Co arrives. Hood and Sons offer 250 ties per bundle at 68 cents. Ties are soft iron and rust-free. The Weber wagon sold by Hood’s swanks with easy handling and light draft. Lightning damaged Kratz barn on the state line but did not ignite. Youse drills a well for Walther von Wedell at Lowell.
The 16th Annual Indian Reunion and Green Corn Feast will be held in Wyandotte Oklahoma from July 30 to August 3. Chiefs of the Wyandotte, Seneca, Modoc, Shawnee, Peoria, Pawnee, Cherokee and Osage tribes are expected to attend. The organizers promise superior attractions and free bread, beef, and camping tents supplied by management for participating Indians.
