Mines yield rich lead and zinc vein near Baxter
J W Kepple has drilled on Wilbur land six miles west of Baxter and hit lead and zinc ore in four holes 35 yards apart. Lead vein runs 13 feet thick at about 200 feet depth with jack at 20 to 45 feet below. Zinc ore fresh from the ground shows 7 percent zinc, with portions measured at 10 to 12 percent. Ore body appears unusually rich and promising for Kepple and associates.
