They were dark, masked, similar in size and fled toward the little green store corner. Local residents report two men and no view of faces due to darkness.

Mrs Malona McKenzie died at her home on Tuesday January 21 after a short illness. The funeral is set for Friday January 24 at 2 p.m. at the Christian church. Memorial Building project gains momentum in Baxter Springs
Chamber of Commerce directors discussed a proposed memorial office building for Baxter Springs at a Wednesday session. A hotel proposition was outlined by P. J. Demerath of Galena, with plans for a fireproof six story design housing business rooms offices and a memorial floor. A committee led by A. L. Harvey was named to outline plans secure sites and report February 6. A Tri-State mine operators delegation pushed a concrete road from Bisctty to Picher endorsed by the Chamber which will appoint a co operating committee to secure right of way and arrange details. The group also touched Baxter’s quota of French orphans care.

Confession Clears An Ozark Tragedy
Mrs. Carrie Hofland of O Neal Nebraska confessed at preliminary hearing to murdering Mrs. Pearl Welton wife of farmer Frank Welton of Mountain View Missouri. Welton was away in a forest when the crime occurred and Hofland said she followed him across three states then killed Mrs Welton and disposed of her body in a cistern.
