Pigs for sale near Lowell and illness reports across the area, plus notes on a Retail Implement Dealers meeting in Kansas City. The town records a county printing dispute, new births, illnesses, travel by car and bus, and minor accidents as residents cope with weather and daily life.
Ol Youse died unexpectedly Sunday at his northwest Baxter Springs home after a morning work session thawing pipes. Born October 8, 1865 in Allen County Indiana, he came to Baxter Springs in 1891 and married Minnie Pinnick in 1893. He leaves four children Clare Arthur Lloyd Lillian, six brothers, three sisters, and many local business ties. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev Hoppingarner of the M E Church with a large turnout.
The Redeagle Mining Co has incorporated and leased 20 acres of George Redeagle land five miles south of the city, with a mine already opened. A car of lead was mined and under the lead lies 24 feet of zinc rich dirt. Albert Peck W N Bingham W R Bingham and Ed Hudson are drilling a ten acre lease on Charlie Quapaw land across from Redeagle mine, expected to strike a similar ore body. A solemn note urges peace with the Almighty following the death of a vigor te man, Mr Youse. A Justamera Club banquet was hosted Friday night for husbands of club members at Mr and Mrs W M Smith home with dinner at 730 and games after. Music provided by Mrs James Simmons Mrs Smith and Miss Grace Perkins. hostesses aided by Miss Grace Perkins and Miss Zella Wright.
John R. Rose presents blueprints for a proposed Spring River bridge, Brush Creek bridge, and city steel viaduct seeking Baxter club support to secure the necessary right of way. The city clerk holds the franchise, while local ads note hay and barred rocks for sale and a mayoral rubbish cleanup order.
