J E Simmons has been appointed assessor for Baxter. Two auto loads of booze passed through Baxter at speed Tuesday noon. The Presbyterian Ladies Aid will meet with Mrs Walter Winn this Thursday afternoon. Mrs G P Carroll of Vinita Oklahoma attended the funeral of her aunt Miss Mattie Patton in this city Sunday.

Mrs G D Kelsey Dies After Heart Trouble
Mrs Henrietta Kelsey wife of Geo D Kelsey died suddenly Sunday at her North Street home after long heart trouble. She leaves husband two daughters Sara Kelsey and Mrs William McKinney with funeral services held Tuesday and remains sent to Oswego Kansas for interment.

Sermon and Holy Communion at St Marks Church Friday
St Marks Episcopal church announces Friday evening services at 8 o'clock with a sermon and Holy Communion all invited. Mr and Mrs J S Patton of Kansas City attended the funeral of Miss Mattie Patton in the city last Sunday. Victor Griffin has bought the Wilson property on East Cedar Street and plans improvements. Charges have been filed against C A McNeill, a member of the bar, with disbarment sought and the outcome to be watched with interest.

Mattie Patton Dies After Illness in Union Springs
Miss Mattie Patton died at her neice's home in Union Springs Alabama after a two week pneumonia illness. Born August 17 1853 in McLean county Illinois she moved to the city with her family in the early seventies and cared for her father and four brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held at the Patton home conducted by Rev Hoppinanger with interment at Baxter cemetery. Surviving are four brothers B W Patton M A Patton J S Patton of Kansas City W L Patton of Raton New Mexico and sister Mrs Anna Goodner of Albuquerque New Mexico. her mother had died earlier.

Clara Gladys Button died Tuesday evening last week from whooping cough aged two. Funeral services were held Wednesday.
