Bets are flying in New York City over whether Teddy Roosevelt will seek the Republican presidential nomination and whether he will win it. Some wager he will not run while others bet he will secure the nomination.
Turkey shoot planned in Cooper's pasture east of town on Friday December 22. Local updates mention manure spreaders sold to real names, road conditions worsening, and optimism for a good wheat crop in 1912 with forecasts of universally big crops. Christmas dance planned by Sunnyside folks with oysters served.

Train No 7 on the Frisco line known as the St Louis and Wichita train derailed in the north part of town during a Sunday forenoon near the old Frisco station. Several cars left the rails including the tender and baggage car but no injuries were reported as the diner remained on track and traffic was quickly rerouted by a long switch and Fort Scott wreck crews. Another freight engine derailed Monday at the reunion grounds spur due to soft ground and a high grade. the engineer and fireman jumped to safety.
