Topeka August 5 Ex Governor J Crawford announces his book Kansas in the Sixties will be published in August instead of September to meet large state reunion demand. Brigadier general and former war governor Crawford aided by J W Grantham of Kansas City arranging early press and shipment for dealers nationwide.
Local items report airship flights planned for the Big Baxter Reunion and advertise Prentice & Co. Well digging services. Baxter Transfer Barn seeks drivers for reunion work. Mrs. T. T. McAboy returns from Independence Kansas. Martin Shanks fixes up property near Mount Hope with Ernest Shanks nearby. Rev W R Yeakel travels from Galena to Baxter to swim amid flood conditions and jokes about Lena Lena. Baxterites swim amid improvisations as the Frisco puddle impresses travelers. Yeakel delivers a strong sermon at St Mark's Church last Sunday and services are Sunday evenings at 6.
Preparations are nearly complete for the largest reunion yet with cleaned grounds a good water system daily airship displays and abundant attractions. Campers will find groceries dry goods meats bread ice furniture and camp supplies available on site as attendees prepare to stay and enjoy extensive shows and speeches.
Last Saturday Baxter Springs held Booster Day despite heavy rains and flooded roads. By 3:30 PM about eight hundred residents had registered, arriving despite threats of more storms and impassable bridges. The event proceeded in the old fashioned spirit, with umbrellas as the only obvious boost.
Fred Bartlett the Baxter post master and his two assistants Miss Sadie Mapes and Jennie Smith faced a flood of mail. Sixteen sacks arrived and were sorted and distributed in 22 minutes, as townsfolk waited hungry for mail. The rapid operation demonstrated the efficiency of the postal team and their handling of a flood-induced backlog.
The notice lists liturgical texts for August 13 at St Mark's Church, Baxter Springs, including readings from First Corinthians and Luke, Psalms 69 and 70, and hymns 652 660 535. A Sunday service per the Book of Common Prayer is noted and a dam scene at Lowell dam drew crowds. horse feeding advised at Easter Transfer Barn.

The license agent of the big reunion is busy handling concessions and other accommodations.
