First Annual Kentucky Stock Farm Sale Attracts Large Crowd
The first annual Kentucky Stock Farm sale was held Tuesday at the stables west of town. Auctioneer W. T. Hartley delivered a strong performance after recovering from illness. The event grossed about $5,000 with many lots selling above expectations, though some valuable stock remained unsold as the day ended. Remaining stock available by private sale. Prices ranged from $49 to $903 for a variety of horses and jennets sold to buyers from Baxter Springs, Ottawa, Kansas City, Columbus, and nearby towns.

Io Galena reports the Republicans elected three of four councilmen Tuesday, leaving a Democratic majority though Republicans hold the minority slate. The Library Association plans a tea at Mrs. E. O. Noble's home on Tuesday afternoon and evening, April 8, inviting all library supporters to attend with high quality music as a featured entertainment.

Mrs L Overholaer of Oklahoma City visited Baxter to see her daughter Mrs J C Haskett. Joplin election was hotly contested with Democrats winning eight of nine council seats. Chas J Axter and Will Ferrin, near Blackwell, split an Easter egg eating contest with Axte l at 14 and Ferria 12. Artel died Tuesday morning. Rex the jack tops sale at Kentucky stock barn
Rex, a fine young black jack, sold at the Kentucky stock Barnsdale on Tuesday, was bought by Col. H. H. Gregg of Joplin for 436 dollars. The colonel secured a great bargain as Rex is described as the finest five year old jack in this region. See G. R. Gould for grass and clover seed.
