Missing estate agent found dead in well near Wainwright

The body of W B Crawford, a well known estate agent who vanished May 11, was recovered Sunday night from a well four miles northeast of Wainwright Alto. Indications point to murder with the body dumped headfirst into the sixteen foot deep well filled with manure and straw. Several people are under suspicion.

Guelph Ontario June 21 Prof Graham of the O A C said last nights frost was disastrous for farmers and truck gardeners in the district with four to ten degrees of frost. Farmers report spoiled vegetables and heavy damage to fall wheat and peas.

N Goulet resident of township 45 20 south of Delmas took a coal lease Monday for his farm noted as having strong indications of coal. Parties offered Goulet an attractive figure earlier but he did not secure government mineral rights, leaving the land open due to lack of lease.

Tornado Ravages Watertown Dakotas Killing Nine

Sioux Falls S D June 23 Nine persons were killed and forty injured as a tornado swept Watertown Dak destroyed 300 buildings and cut all telegraph and telephone lines to the city. The same dispatch noted damage in the surrounding area and probable loss of life.

The Battleford Oil & Gas Co Ltd issues a prospectus detailing a capital of 150000 dollars, divided into 30000 shares of five dollars each, with 6000 shares offered to the public. Gas Pocket Strikes Near Biggar Draws Attention

A gas pocket was struck while digging a water well five miles east of Biggar at Vance. The gas rush injured the well digger and unconsciousness followed. Gas continuously bubbles at the bottom, heard from some distance, suggesting a larger reservoir and fissure. No attempt yet to confine or assess pressure. Independent notes potential for a boom if quantity is sufficient.

Dr Millar the coroner was called to Maidstone to hold an inquest on a boy found in the Battle river south of Maidstone. The death may be the drowning reported about a month ago at that locality.

Addresses Heard by Political Equality League

The meeting in the Methodist church club room drew a small crowd as the Political Equality League discussed women's suffrage in Saskatchewan. Secretary Mrs Storer reported on a Yorkton Methodist conference visit, ministers and laymen pledging support. Mayor Smith spoke on franchise extension and M L A S Simpson expressed strong support. Napoleon Champagne, brother of a Battleford member, is running as an independent Conservative for one of Ontario's two Ottawa seats.
