D Squadron Best at Camp Sewell Saskatchewan Light Horse Record
The 220d Saskatchewan Light Horse D Squadron returned from Sewell camp with top honors for overall efficiency in a camp of about 1,000 men the largest in Canada this year. They led in drills and shooting and nearly won the Donald Mac Cup despite a single distance judgment lapse. The 71-member unit also excelled in maneuvers before the moving picture machine used nationwide.

A warm spell spurs growth while South Western soils suffer from rain shortage and wheat yields may reach only seventeen bushels per acre. Other regions show good soil moisture after recent showers with wheat fifteen to twenty inches tall and beginning to head. Woman dies after clothing ignites while stoking oil fire
Port Arthur Ontario July 5 Miss Jean Blackwood of Schreiber collapsed on a CPR train bound for a hospital as her clothing caught fire while she tried to brighten a fire with coil oil. Her eyes were burned and most of her body scorched she remained conscious until moments before death.
