Deaths and arrests in a Saskatchewan case and a fatal rail yard accident

Mrs. Manteifell died under sad circumstances with Mrs. Legg tending her. Mr. Manteifel and Mrs. Legg were arrested after a preliminary hearing and sent to Battleford jail to await fall assizes on a culpable homicide charge. A switchman Geo T Coville died after being crushed between two cars at the G T P yards in Saskatoon at age 26.

Town Council Meeting Sees Salary Hike and Road Work Requests

Mayor Phillips and councilors met Monday to discuss local matters. Secretary Adams reported the old power house machinery offered to Rosthern was too large. Grain Growers Meet in Chariton Elevator Plan Progress

June meeting drew many Grain Growers from nearby associations and their own group. Inspector’s favorable report on the Chariton elevator project was announced along with plans for a June 16 follow up meeting with Mr. Lillwall of Wilkie to organize the district. Four new members joined, bringing total to forty one, and a July 26 annual picnic and sports program were proposed. A political meeting preceded the GG session, where details were further discussed at length. Trustees began fencing two acres at the school grounds, hoping to finish soon and host the picnic there.
