Eight Mile Lake District News Updates and Events

Rain and sun have spurred rapid crop growth and boosted morale. Twenty three pupils attend the school with more expected. Mrs Franklin reports letters from the regimental chaplain and company commander about her son Charles. Grain Growers meet Wednesday 12th at 2pm at the school to discuss hero law with debate and potential new members. A Sunday service is planned at 3 pm. A Friday dance drew about 75 attendees and another is planned. A Young People club formation discussion is set for Tuesday at 8 pm. Farmers with annual crop and live stock returns should submit them to the Eight Mile Lake teacher.

Willowmoor Notes Stir Community Talk and Plans

Willowmoor notes report a large Sunday attendance at a school service missing a sermon due to Mr. Tandberg's absence. Local residents from Biggar Wilkie Deobolm travel and socialize, while plans form for the Valjennie picnic and road improvements near Willowmoor school.

Red Cross Dance Boosts Drummond Creek Funds

May 4 dance at the school drew many including Battleford visitors. Mrs Hushka auctioned a flags sofa cushion for 13 dollars, added to branch funds. Postmaster Light won the cushion lucky number. Ed McCaffrey left Wilkie for Regina on May 29. A Grain Growers meeting June 1 planned twine orders and a Sunday gathering June 16. Cross plans to send 850 cash to Regina and prepare war relief supplies. Baptist services and mass to be held, with sermons on the war.

Prongua Disaster? Farm Syndicate Buys Sweet Grass Reserve

A Rockhaven meeting led to a government backed lease of the Sweet Grass reserve south of the GTP line. A farmers syndicate with shares valued at 250 dollars each plans to lease about 22 400 acres, fence it, sub let hay permits at 100 dollars a ton, and pasture cattle at 3 dollars per head for five years.
