Maine Makes Historic Democratic Sweep in Statewide Victory
The Maine election delivered a sweeping Democratic victory over Republicans. Frederick W. Plaisted won the governorship by a wide margin as Democrats secured large majorities in both houses, enabling anticipated shifts in appointments, reapportionment, and control of key state offices. Sagadahoc and Bath towns shifted to Democrats, signaling a dramatic political realignment after years of Republican dominance.
