A Bath businessman driving toward Brunswick picked up a young couple on the highway just outside Bath and gave them a ride to the next town. He learned they planned to hitchhike to New York where they hoped to find work and live with relatives. The couple, married about a month, had a few dollars for costs and continued by Portland route.
