Haraden Marr Two Bath Men Wed in Portland Ceremony

Miss Ursula Augusta Marr and Marshall Bradstreet Haraden were married at St Domonics church with Rev Fr Nicholas J Horan officiating. The bride wore turquoise blue chiffon and lace with silver accessories. best man was Philip Bovine. About 50 attended a breakfast at Hotel Falmouth. They will reside at 104 Emery Street after a trip.

Death of Mt Vernon man Harry Russ and family ties

Mrs. Arthur Crockett mourns the death of her father Harry Russ who passed Monday night after six months of ill health in Mt Vernon. He is survived by his wife Anna and four daughters including Mrs Crockett Ida Russ Auburn Mrs Lawrence Childs Mt Vernon and Mrs Ronald Sinclair Bar Harbor. Also noted is Miss Mary Lord leaving the Independent to teach in Wells High School for year two.

Five Islands School Opens With Local Teachers

Five Islands school opened Monday with Miss Edith Wilkins of Jay as teacher. Residents and visitors returned from cottages across Bath, Waltham, Cambridge, Weston, Melrose, Oakland, and other towns as summer activities end.

Arthur Hall of M H S will study mechanical engineering at UMaine in Orono. Mrs William J O'Brien and granddaughter Charlotte returned from Lakewood after theatre visit. Mrs Antony Dunham and daughter Lillian Dunham visited the city Saturday. Louise Hill Paine and two children left for Brooklyn after summer with her parents on High street.

Bath Elks Field Day Ends With Clambake at Sebasco

Bath lodge Elks and Portland guests totaling about 60 enjoyed a Sunday field day and clambake at Sebasco. A 1 pm dinner followed a morning of golf horseshoes and baseball. Les Plant's team won 15 to 3 as Pat Carey led a strong effort for the losers with notable base running and defensive plays.

The Colonial club at Sebasco plans an open 18 hole handicap golf tournament next Sunday tied to the annual clambake and field day. Percy Marks oversees the event with a strong turnout expected and handicaps set to balance star and mediocre players. Notables include Ralph O. Augusta Family Returns After Summer at Small Point

Mrs. Charles Payne and her three children Joseph Bodwell and Elizabeth returned home to Augusta on Saturday after spending the summer at their cottage at Small Point. Miss Katherine Trott and Miss Ruth Watson also returned from Ocean Park where they attended Bible school for two weeks.

Shaw Brawn wedding ties Somerville groom to West Bath bride

A Sunday evening wedding joined Miss Margaret S. Brawn of West Bath and Douglas E. Shaw of Somerville Massachusetts at the Brawn home. Rev D L Wilson conducted the double ring ceremony with Miss Lillian Stover on the wedding march. Bridesmaid Eleanor Brown wore pink crepe, best man Leonard Brown received cuff links. The couple plan a two week motor trip and will reside in Somerville after September 23. Out of town guests included Mr George E Shaw and daughter Eleanor of Somerville.

Topsham Grangers Have Fine Program

Topsham Grange held its regular meeting Saturday evening with an attendance of 78. Ora Rackley presided as lecturer and a varied program included readings, music, tableaux, and clippings. Mark Hayes, son of Mr and Mrs John P Hayes, was accepted as a St Anselm College freshman. Alfred Randall returned to Boston to enter Bryant Stratton Business College for his second year. Mr and Mrs Maxwell Sawyer and children attended the Central Maine Power Co field day at Oakland Park in Rockland.
