Portland Bath highway hearing drafts shore line route
A Portland hearing before the New State Highway Commission examined routes for a Portland Bath trunk road funded by federal and state funds. Local officials and Bath business leaders pressed the shore line route via New Meadows Bridge, while supporters of the Middle road urged lower costs and argued against steep hills. The session showed broad agreement on building a state road soon, with public sentiment leaning toward the shore route and Portland’s ongoing Veranda Street project reflecting that choice.
