State to Provide Guards on Bath Bridge Soon
Patrol duty at the Bath end of the Carlton Bridge resumed Friday with guards from Bath Iron Works Corp to cover the emergency after colored troops departed Thursday. Bridge Supervisor Harold P. Small said the State Highway Commission will supply guards as soon as they can be procured, with five men to be hired immediately if found. State guards have already been on Woolwich end for weeks and will move to Bath when available. The Tron Works management cooperated until replacement staff are found.
