Mrs. Lydia D. Cook, oldest Wesley Methodist Church member, was hosted by her daughter and son-in-law, Walter F. Day, at 62 South Street to celebrate her 89th birthday. A bouquet of gladioli was given by the church Ladies Society, with ice cream and cake served and many gifts and cards received. Attending were Rev. C. Clifford Sargent, Mary and Karen Sargent, and numerous friends and church members.
Two intoxication charges were rapidly disposed of in Friday morning municipal court by Court Recorder John W. Quarrington. One defendant was remanded to Kennebec county jail and the other ordered to pay a $10 fine plus $5.15 costs, with 30 days in jail in default.

Freeman W. Gilliam of West Point pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor in Friday Municipal court. Judge Gardiner R. Deering ordered a $100 fine and $9.87 in court costs. Complainant was Police Officer John J. Marks Jr.
