Pownall and era of British policy in America discussed

Historian Chas E Allen surveys Thomas Pownall's career from English statesman to colonial governor and anti tyranny ally. He contrasts Pownall's views with later British policy and notes Adams Sumner and others admired him. Also reports on bids for eight torpedo boat destroyers with Bath Iron Works winning two ships at 761,500 dollars each for delivery in two years.

Dog hunts fish with owner on tidal flats

Wilton G. Bates of Winneyance tells of his dog that loves fishing as much as he does. At low tide the dog watches the flats, pounces on a fish, grips it briefly, then dives to pull the catch from the water, showing a preference for salt water trips at the New Meadows camp.
