Citizens of Bath Donate Generosity to City Hospital
Appreciation runs high as Bath and surrounding communities donated more to the Bath City Hospital during Donation Week than ever before. Trustees praise public Lib donations including cash, blankets, clothes, canned goods, linens, magazines, toys, and nursery material from many individuals and groups such as Montsweag Grange and Dromore Farm Bureau. Also noted are visiting relatives from Pittsfield and Reading, and donations of a late Dr. Seth B. Mullin portrait to the doctors’ staff room.

By H. H. Easterbrook, the Bath season saw five hand fire engines in action the smallest turnout since 1874 with a ten muster total down due to business gloom. Maine engines like Vixen of Berwick and Triumph of Berwick led prize money while Albany Coon and others set distance records. Musters across Everett Kingston Bath Brockton Worcester featured 39 contesting engines with mixed results and ongoing efforts to restore and classify end stroke and side stroke engines for future seasons. Clement Oliver of Boston visited Bath for the weekend.

Argentine sailor launches 8000 mile voyage in Olga 2
Manuel Cruz, 38, an Argentine navigator known as Mike, set sail from Bath in the 23 foot Olga 2 at 1 10 Tuesday afternoon. With a north wind and choppy seas he passed the Kennebec draw and Doubling Point, aiming for Puntas Arenas Chile. Friends and Bath businesses aided the voyage, and Cruz plans to reach Seguin and Bermuda before Rio de Janeiro. He intends to sail by night and sleep by day, hoping to return if the voyage succeeds.
