Hon. John C. Scates of Westbrook Maine a Maine Automobile Association official addressed the American Good Roads Congress in Atlantic City. He urged immediate highway improvements funded by state bonds noting Maine’s small sparse population and conservative legislature while highlighting a plan to capitalize automobile revenues for a $2 000 000 road bond issue and the need for state action.

Plans for Carnival Promises Dazzling Alameda Decorations

Committees work daily toward October 22 to 24 Manufacturers and Merchants Exposition in Alameda. Outside exhibitors are booking space as Scott R. Frye allocates halls and concessions. The entertainment committee promises unprecedented vaudeville acts led by H. F. Blaney with 12 to 16 piece orchestra. A colorfully lighted Alameda and outdoor parade are planned. publicity boosts include a countywide 5 page magazine and extensive advertising. Special rates to Bath and return offered by Maine Central Railroad and ship lines, with fare details to follow.
