New Middle Bridge Bridges Dresden Pleasurable Route Upgrade
Dresden motorists praise the new Middle bridge over the Eastern river highlighting its modern steel and concrete design. The WPA flood relief project cost 75000 dollars and used 234 tons of steel with 1300 cubic yards of stone fill and 9000 cubic yards of approach fill. The structure connects via a route to Wiscasset and Randolph, replacing the old drawbridge at a dangerous bend. The estate of late contractor F W Carlton completed the work after his death, preserving his final contract as a lasting tribute.
