Bath Iron Works Corp shop division won the Maine State Safety Conference trophy in Portland. Governor Brann received the award for the plant from L. Eugene Thebeau with safety officials and executives present. The event followed the previous Brann trophy and highlighted the plant’s accident-free build of the destroyer Dewey. A Grand Merchandising Campaign drawing at City Hall awarded a 1935 Ford Tudor sedan to Miss Anna Barbara Allen of Hotel Phoenix after a million-ticket pile effort and a public drawing judged fair by master of ceremonies Harry E. Stetson.

Bath authorities received a Maine attorney general opinion declaring slot machines pin table games Erie diggers and beano and bank night illegal. County Attorney Ralph O Dale said sheriffs and Bath police will enforce the ruling which targets devices paying cash merchandise or tokens. About sixty machines in Bath and several beano games at churches clubs and theaters may be banned.

In the Bath Country Club finals the 1935 President's Cup went to David P. Mullin after a dramatic 36 hole match. Mullin trailed William S. Shorey by as many as three holes in the afternoon but mounted a comeback, halved the 35th and won the last to finish 1 up. Shorey led after 18 holes and narrowed the lead to 2 after 27, but Mullin turned the tide to claim the title.
