Plant Sells Out to United Shoe Machinery Company
Tom Plant sold his shoe machinery ventures to the United Shoe Machinery Company in a deal reported between five and ten million dollars. The transaction ends years of patent war and stock buildup as Plant’s Jamaica Plain operation shifts to the trust’s control. Obadiah Gardner is named as a U.S. senator candidate, with Esther as a noted but unlikely double honor for the State Grange.
