Oil on River May Prevent Pittsburgh Fog
Pittsburgh fog may ease this winter as scientists at the Mellon Institute test an oil spray to lubricate the Monongahela River. Dr H B Meller and War Department and Weather Bureau officials collaborate to curb fog by preventing vapor from warm river water. Initial tests show a spray 125th as thick as mosquito oil film, with costs kept reasonable.
