Eta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Friday November 13 at 6 30 p m at the Cosmopolitan club for a covered dish supper. Five Mu Portland members, one Epsilon Belfast member, 26 Eta members and one guest attended. President Miss Helen Hayes welcomed attendees. Mrs Charlotte Francis introduced Bowdoin College lecturer Mrs James S Coles who spoke on Maine Advisory Committee on Education. Next meeting is January 18 at the Stowe House Brunswick with speaker Mrs Lila Skofield.
The Rev. Ernest Roberts preached on Laborers In the Vineyard at First Baptist Georgetown using Matthew passages. The Georgetown Working League met at Mrs. Harry L. Horne's home with 14 members, and December 1 hosts were planned. Central school honor rolls list multiple students across grades, and local hunters were identified. A food sale by Georgetown P T A funds a stage curtain for Central school. Local visits highlight civic and educational events, with several residents noted for travel, illness recovery, and family birthdays.
Rev Ernest G Roberts preached Laborers and the Master at Second Baptist. Evening sermon titled The Pleasures of the Lord. Men repaired Gray auditorium floor for new tile. Baptist Youth Fellowship earned 26.26 for floor fund. Various local residents hosted gatherings, birthday celebrations, and social visits across Bath Georgetown and surrounding area. Community activity included fire drill, horse trading reports, and preparations for winter.
Bath Red Cross will sponsor a gift drive for Augusta State Hospital patients with help from local churches clubs and organizations. Groups will collect gifts in November and December. wrap gifts and include items such as cigarettes tobacco cards stationery handkerchiefs and socks. Bags 11 by 12 inches, filled with four candy bars, a cigarette, stationery, and a handkerchief, are requested for patients with no outside contact. All gifts to be left at the Red Cross office by December 10, with pickups arranged by Mrs Seth S Mull en.

Bath Fire Department answered two calls Sunday a woods blaze behind Gerald Street with no damage and a chimney fire at 51 Elm Street also causing no damage. Brief whistle tests at Central Fire Station after noon Monday led to inquiries as valve sticking, fixed by cleaning and test blows.
Mr and Mrs Walter Morse of 1177 High street return home after a 10 day trip to Richmond Virginia to visit Mrs Morse s mother Mrs Blanche Perkins and extended family including Mr and Mrs Mickey Whitley Mr and Mrs George Jones and their grandson George Jones en route to Bath they visited Mr and Mrs Richard Gregg in Glenhurst Delaware Mrs Gregg is the former Margaret Cromwell of Woolwich
The Rev. Benjamin C. Bubar Jr. denied a Maine newspaper quote claiming 80 percent of Morse High School students drink. He stated he was misquoted and did not mention such a figure during the Gardiner league meeting and in his Bath statement.
Bath area World War I veterans are urged to attend a 7:30 p m Friday meeting at the American Legion hall to discuss forming a World War I Barracks in the city. American Legion officers including Frank J. McDonnell Ira Fonda John Tschamler and Harry Mills will attend. Maine has eight World War I barracks formed in the past three years and the new pension plan benefits for veterans will be discussed.
Police Chief Robert E. Wagner Jr. announced plans to issue warrants to about four outstanding parking ticket violators who ignored written warnings. He noted most offenders pay promptly, aiding the department and taxpayers, while stressing enforcement against lingering delinquents.
Mrs Clinton McFadden was elected president of Our Ladies Sodality of St Marys Parish at a meeting after evening devotions. Officers include Mrs Donald Jumper as vice president and Mrs Arthur McDonald as secretary, with greens sale set for December 6 at Stagecoach Inn.
Mrs. Alice M. Bergen, 76, widow of William J. Bergen, died November 6 after a long illness at her Philadelphia home. Born March 18, 1883 in Phippsburg Center, she moved to Philadelphia as a child. She leaves four sons, one daughter, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two half sisters. Funeral services were held November 10 in Philadelphia, with interment at Oakland Cemetery.
Edward T. Hamel 53 of 45 Jordan Avenue Brunswick died suddenly Monday afternoon while at work at the Bath Iron Works plant in East Brunswick. Born Lewiston June 19 1906 to William and Jennie Hamel he had worked 22 years as a welder at BIW after eight years as a chain store manager for Niesner Company. He was a member of United Lodge No 8 Masons of Brunswick. Survived by his widow Theo Radley Hamel and his mother Jennie Pendleton of Bath.
Rufus Ham 69 died in Holden Massachusetts on Friday. Funeral was held Monday in Holden. Born in Bath he was son of Frank and Emma Gahan Ham. He moved to Massachusetts as a young man and lived there since. Survived by sister Mrs. Edward Kerwin of Bath, several nieces and nephews, and brother Arthur Ham of Little Cranberry Island Islesford.
Miss Mary Emmaline Dingley a Bath native 70 died Thursday in Augusta Born August 25 1889 she was daughter of Capt Charles W and Mary Flaherty Dingley a lifelong Bath resident Survived by brothers Albert Walter Dingley Bath and Frank Dingley Brunswick and several nieces and nephews
Funeral service was held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St Marys RC Church with Rev Francis E Morrissey officiating. Bearers were Walter Galuza Adam Galuza and Frank Dingley Jr Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Carl E A Banks 67 a World War I veteran died Tuesday November 10 at Bath Memorial hospital. Funeral held Thursday at 1 30 p m from A F Mayo Son Funeral residence with Rev Richard B Adams officiating. He was born October 7 1892 in Wakefield Mass son of Carl and Annie Wern Banks. Surviving widow Dorothy Elliot Banks two sons Earl Wakefield RI and Carl Banks Jr of Boston a daughter Mrs Hazel McCourt of Phippsburg a half brother Edward La Salle Portland a sister Miss Edith Banks Portland a half sister Mrs Dorothy Kennedy Portland and six grandchildren.
Eleazer J Babine, 71, of Bath died November 11 in an Augusta hospital after a year and a half as a patient. Born in Mereghan Nova Scotia on July 18 1888 he came to Bath in 1904 and worked as a molder at Hyde Windlass Co. He was a member of St Marys Church. Surviving are six sons and seven daughters including Leo Bath Joseph Saratoga Springs Lawrence West Bath Edward West Bath William U S Army Germany Richard Brunswick Grace Brewer Bath Margaret Senecal Saratoga Emily Benn West Bath Frances Doughty West Bath Loretta Kreidler Texas Elizabeth Crocker East Brunswick Theresa Buttterfield Saratoga 37 grandchildren and a sister Mrs Edesse F Boyce Bath.
Millicent Clyde Jardine aged 79 died Saturday in Boston after a three month illness. Born July 12, 1880 in Phippsburg, she was daughter of Scott and Flora Morse. Survived by husband Theodore Jardine and brother Sherman L. Morse of Bath, plus nieces and nephews. Funeral at Waterman Funeral Home 495 Commonwealth Ave Boston Monday at noon.
A requiem mass for Eleazer J Babine of Bath was sung Saturday morning at St Marys Roman Catholic Church. Rev John E Bellefontaine officiated. Bearers were Arthur Reno Clifford White John Butterfield Donald Brown Elmer Doughty and Eugene Babine. Burial was in the family lot at Calvary Cemetery.
