Golden Wedding Observance For Bath Couple Longley

Harmon Eliason introduced Converse Fenn and Duncan Farrell as Bath Rotary Club speakers for Tuesday noon. Fenn spoke on Pine Tree Society for Crippled Children and Adults Inc. and the ongoing need for its work. He recalled Rotary’s early aid to crippled children and noted camps with $250 to $275 subsidies. The Rome camp budget totals about $23,000. Forty counselors serve sixty children, and their efforts are highly effective. Farrell showed camp film and described health recovery among the youngsters.

Edward Burnham of 70 Western avenue Bath marked his 93rd birthday on Friday November 13 with calls from relatives and birthday cards. Born November 13 1860 in Bath he spent his life there, married Rebecca McElman in 1888 and plans a 65th wedding anniversary in December. He worked in wooden shipyards around Bath Gardiner and Hyde Windlass Co retired about ten years ago. He is a former Odd Fellows member and enjoys radio, reading, and keeping up with city state and national issues. He and his wife are respected in their neighborhood and he hopes for world peace. His nearest relatives include sisters in Old Town and several Bath nieces and nephews.

Maine plans a $250000 expansion at Reid State Park Georgetow adding bath houses latrines picnicking and camping areas plus 1.2 miles of new road and a larger parking capacity for 680 cars.
