Identical Prints Tie Theft Spree to One Suspect
State Police Officer Arthur Freeman said prints matched to a single man who robbed sites in Fairfield Oakland Winthrop Richmond and South Gardiner. He reported three cars stolen in South Gardiner and Richmond, with all but one later abandoned on nearby highways. The thief, now at large in a stolen car, left behind others from Gardiner residents Earley Armstrong and Catherine Armstrong. About $75 in breaks plus $60 overlooked in the South Gardiner post office were taken, along with cash from J F Farrells grocery Vicks Lunch and Earle Dutten s garage. A $15 robbery occurred at a Richmond garage. The suspect seeks money only, Freeman noted, and the South Gardiner post office envelope containing the $60 lay on the floor amid papers. The stolen Wesley Marston automobile from Waterville was also involved.
