Sergt Walter King Dies in Service in Basra
Sergt Walter King 28 formerly of Bath and son of Isaiah King of 104 Academy Street died in Basra on October 23 from typhoid fever. Enlisting in July 1915 he served with Royal Engineers and was chief engineer of a 300 ton freight steamer. He had worked at Portsmouth Navy Yard and with his father in a boiler shop before joining the forces. He also sailed on the Ransom B. Fuller between Portland and Boston and had been ill five weeks, with four letters and a cable from the London War Office to his father. He is survived by his father a brother Wilbur King of Boston and a sister Mrs Lida Libby of Bath.

Bath physician recovers robes from teen thief
Dr. E. M. Fuller regained two robes taken from his car after a 16 year old boy from Lincoln street hid one robe in a barn. Police recovered both items with credit given to Capt. Colgan. The boy was placed on probation and ordered to report bi monthly for six months, with a stay at the State School for Boys during minority. Also noted are wartime draft board actions and local social notes including a newborn Walter Jr. and visits from Miss Margaret Stewart and Miss Bessie Mikelsky.
