Phippsburg News Letter Highlights Local Life

In October five marriage licenses were issued and two couples were published. The Popham school closed for a week. Capt. R. E. Fletcher travels with the auxilliary yacht Traveler, while Mrs. Hill joins later at Norfolk or Philadelphia. A baby girl arrived to the Hutchins family. Numerous local activities follow including plays, dances, porch visits, and road work by Bowker men. Pines, ponds, and weather shift with winsome community notes.

West Bath Grange Fair Opens With Baby Show and Entertainment

The annual West Bath Grange fair opened Wednesday with a baby show and entertainment drawing a large attendance. Sixteen babies competed for blue ribbons with Alfred Parks and Earl Walker among the winners. The event featured handiwork, decorations, a fortune telling tent, and a varied afternoon program including music by Perkins's Orchestra and recitations and solos.

Bishop Cooke to Visit Bath and Preach at Wesley

Bishop Richard J. Cooke of the Methodist Episcopal Church will preach at Wesley Church in Bath next Sunday morning. Born in New York January 31, 1853, he has served as professor and acting president of Chant University and editor of the Methodist Advocate Journal. He travels from Portland Oregon to speak in Bath.

Mrs Briggs of the Poultry Yard stage show and fair notes

A Marion Purington Orchestra program drew over 100 attendees with Bath a large local delegation. The three act comedy Mrs Briggs of the Poultry Yard starred a full local cast and received strong applause. Readings by Miss Theo Wilson and Miss Marion Purington complemented Perkins’s orchestra.
