Forty years ago in Bath a large party and local notices

Charles S. Brown Named Bath’s Most Efficient Tax Collector

On November 6 1912 Charles S Brown was praised as Bath’s most efficient tax collector with a steady rise in performance. His report to the City Council shows for this year a commitment of $155 219 08 and October receipts of 139 312 81 representing 89 9 percent. This mirrors 87 percent by October last year and 86 9 percent in October 2010.

Tug Ariel Fails to Save William Rice at Ocean Point

On November 7, 1912 the tug Ariel under Capt Small tried to aid the two masted schooner William Rice of Thomaston which missed stays and went ashore at Ocean Point. The schooner broke up as the flood tide rose and she carried 10 tons of cement in her hold. All three crew members reached shore safely. The vessel's value is under $1,000. The note ends with the installation services of Rev. F W O'Brien.

Nov 10 1912 Capt D Y Beckham C A C U S A inspector instructor visited the Fourth Company Armory and praised the range tower built by the company. Beckham, formerly adjutant of the Portland Artillery District, is on first rounds of CA organizations. He stayed at King Tavern as in city. A Bathman was arraigned in municipal court on drunkenness and child abuse complaints. after review, the judge gave a severe warning and released him.

Annual Costume Ball At Dancing School
