The Administrative Code Bill backed by Gov. Gardiner was adopted by Maine voters with 36 289 Yes and 24 901 No from 268 cities and towns reported. Five of 20 cities rejected it. Sagadahoc and parts of Somerset and York reported opposition. The measure restructures departments, centralizes purchasing, and abolishes boards. the referendum collected 17 000 signatures.
