Talk on ice cutting heard by Rotarians
The Bath Rotary Club met for its weekly luncheon at Hotel Phoenix with strong attendance. Edward Sewall of Mill Pond Ice Co spoke on ice harvesting detailing 12 inch thick fields laid out at right angles, block sizes of 22 by 28 inches, and a process that yields about 12 blocks per minute. Ice is stored in the ice house in tiers and covered with hay, with an estimated 33 percent shrinkage before delivery to customers in summer.

The Blessed Virgin Ladies Sodality of St Marys Parish marked 25 years at Knights of Columbus hall. From 118 original members only 12 remained. Formed in October 1907 under Rev Fr Richard Phalen. Arthur B. Scott principal of Morse high school was elected vice president of the Maine Association of Secondary School Principals at Bangor during the teachers convention. Arthur Lowe of Portland high was named president, with Harrison Lyseth named secretary treasurer and Milton J. Lambert to a three year executive seat. By Tuesday night the Registration board added 158 new names to the voting list, surpassing the 1928 presidential total by eight. Only 25 names were added that day due to rain, and the board remains in session Thursday with evening hours extended. Of registrants 114 enrolled, 95 Republican and 19 Democrat. women outnumber men.

Maine and New Brunswick Engineers Plan New International Bridge
Engineers from the Maine State Highway Department and Canadian Public Works Department of New Brunswick began survey work Wednesday to rebuild the Calais St Stephen International Bridge. The plan calls for using existing piers and abutments but enlarging them, with a steel and concrete structure and a four lane roadway capable of about double the current traffic.
