Defiance Yacht Trials Off Greenwich Mark Quiet Start

The tri city syndicate yacht Defiance sailed on Long Island Sound from Greenwich with designer George Owen and owners George M. Pynchon and George Lander Jr. The trial was a light weather test and deemed a success as she showed easy handling and a smooth wake. About 100 yachts and guests observed, with the Pynchon party on board including Mrs. G. M. Pynchon. The crew noted minor wrinkles in the mainsail and a need to adjust jib trimming. Next week summer residents begin arriving along the shore, including Sasanoa Bluffs families across the river.
