Workers demand a 5 cent hourly wage increase or arbitration of wage differences. Patrick J. O'Brien of Springfield, Mass. led a strike authorized by the AFL affiliate union after six months of failed negotiations. Bath Iron Works officials hailed the 1500 ton destroyer Drayton after a successful initial builders' trial off the coast.
