An auto wreck near Bath involved a Brunswick driven car. Bernier’s tire blew out, sending it into a Bath vehicle. Mrs. Diamond suffered a broken wrist and multiple cuts, while Mr. Kramer endured chest injuries. Both were treated at Brunswick and Bath Memorial hospitals. State Trooper Mortimer O CONNELL and Brunswick police investigated.

Bowdoinham men Cornish Skelton and Williams pleaded guilty to illegal hunting from a car with fines and high court costs. A Bath man faced probation for intoxication, with options of extra fines or jail.
A statewide group gathered at Hyde Memorial Home for a Bird Walk invited by Marie Preston of the Pine Tree Society. Army training films were shown.

Mrs Edward Hines of Tops ham was a Tuesday guest of her mother Mrs Clifford Harrington on North Street.
Mr and Mrs Robert Bourget hosted a silver anniversary party at 726 Washington Street Bath for Mr and Mrs Milton H Savage honoring their 25 years of marriage. The Savage couple received a chest of silver and a purse of money. Mrs Savage cut the anniversary cake with her husband assisting. Attendees included Mrs Edward Hamblett Mrs Martha Hall Miss Esther Hall and others.
The council voted 7 to 6 to approve a 1 dollar indefinite lease for the Adm. Charles F. Hughes Ship of the U S Naval club, with plans for a waterfront building and small-boat facilities. It also approved selling Harvard Heights land to Mr. and Mrs. Elmer P. Higgins for 50 dollars, while debates raged over a 2500 dollar bid for a building and property. Repairs chief Oscar Adams outlined 12k plus needs and 7.9k lighting plans, with 5k eyed to start new lighting. The council set 30 dollars for an annual Maine Outboard Racing trophy.
Cpl. Robert D. Miller stationed at Camp Stewart Ga has returned after a furlough to visit his aunt Mrs Vernon Miller who is a patient at the Port and General hospital Port. Mr and Mrs Alfred Pillsbury Jr and children Priscilla and Johannah of Hanson Mass may visit Mrs Pillsburys parents Mr and Mrs Edward Sewall of High street. EM 3 Joseph Dinsmore U S N of South Boston and Miss Phyllis Torrey of Boston passed the weekend with his sister and her husband Mr and Mrs Arthur N MacDonald of 60 Bedford street.
Mothers and guests attended a Grade 6 tea at a local school last week from 2 30 to The program opened with greetings from David Newcomb and Dillon Gillies. Students performed songs and poems and presented an original play titled Mothers Day with Lorraine Drake as mother and Jack Wallace as father. Several mothers and chaperones were listed among the guests as the event concluded with songs and thanks for mothers’ love and understanding.
Hyde Memorial Home hosted varied events last week. Twenty five Girl Scouts led by Mrs Raymond G Chubbuck cleared fallen branches. The Androscoggin County Medical Society Women’s Auxiliary held a 2 30 business session and library tea for fourteen. Garden Club Federation of Maine members joined a bird walk and tour with lunch and social after.
Stewart and Williams of Augusta with T W Cunningham of Bangor offered the lowest bid at 777 700 for restoring buildings roads walks and surfaces at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station. The work excludes runway construction and awaits federal approval for contract and a 90 day completion after award. Other Maine bidders included Consolidated Construction of Portland 784 400 Sanders Engineering of Portland 921 712 F W Cunningham & Sons Portland 935 698 and H P Cummings Construction of Winthrop 988 868.
Mrs Jere Purinton nee Betty Farris was guest of honor at a farewell party hosted by Mr and Mrs Ernest Purinton and daughter Harriet on Pleasant Street. Attendees included the Farris and Vigne families, Dawn Gail Purinton, Frank Hamlin, Myron Decelle, Frank MacKay, Fred Brooks, Virginia Purinton, Mrs Lamb and Stanley Purinton. Mrs Purinton and her children will join Mr Purinton later at Subic Bay Luzon where he serves in the U S Navy.
William H. Jones of Bath pleaded guilty to speeding on Washington Street. He was fined ten dollars and ordered to pay costs of four dollars seventy cents by Bath Municipal Court Recorder John W. Quarrington on Saturday morning.
