Tragic Bath Fire Kills King Family in Second Story
A Sunday-morning blaze in the McKeiver harness shop building's second story destroyed the King family in Bath. Fire officials say spontaneous combustion from rags and heat from five constantly burning lamps likely sparked the tragedy, with Teddy King, Mrs. King, and Mr. King perishing amid smoke. Police and coroner staff removed the bodies as investigators note the lack of partitions helped the deadly smoke spread quickly. Mr. King, a Pennsylvania native, and Mrs. King, from Eastern Maine, were well regarded in the community and active in the Pentecostal church.

E. Cullinan deemed an inquest unnecessary. Kerr was a frequent Bath visitor with many friends there.
