The North street extension city dump will be gated and open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Wednesday, with Sunday closed. Mayor Small, as acting Highway and Sewers chairman, says the measure limits access as the dump manager leaves in the late afternoon. Previously people dumped inflammables at all hours, creating a fire risk this order aims to remove.

The Wiscasset Academy held its annual prize speaking event at the Cat tional church on Monday. ten students competed with prize awards by the Wiscasset Woman's club and a special prize from Mrs. Roy R. Marston in memory of Wilbur F. Merrill. Kathryn Perkins won the Merrill prize of $5, Esther Pray earned the $3 second prize, and Eleanor Carleton received the $2 third prize.

James Taylor returns from New Hampshire, selling his Manchester farm and planning Massachusetts move. W S Peaslee tests a motorboat in harbor. Rev H I Holt preached at the M E church vestry on the verse Beloved I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health.

Birch Point mill whistle praised as natural sound. mill started operating last Tuesday. Annie Jackson returns from Boston. Capt George Southard and family stay with Mr Southard's father on Hooper street. Capt Southard plans soon to sail abroad.
Joseph Ritchie of 795 Middle Street was arrested by U S Deputy Marshal Bryant in Bath on a charge of three separate sales of intoxicating liquor on April 16 1930. He had recently been released from Kennebec County jail in Augusta after a prior term for a similar offense. The case involved alleged sales to Arthur England a longtime federal prohibition figure. Federal agents had been active in Bath gathering evidence against 18th amendment violators.
David Mullin son of Dr and Mrs Sith S Mullin of Washington Street travels to Norton Massachusetts for Wheaton College Junior Prom on Saturday evening.
Municipal officers approved lists for ballot and election clerks for the next two years. Republican chair Chester H. McCabe submits ward by ward clerks and election clerks, including Mabel V. Harford and Annié J. S. Lemont. Democratic chair Ralph C. Covel submits names such as Sadie J. Garcelon and Scott J. Donnell for each ward.
In Bath municipal court the Topsham auto case involving a April 26 collision at Elm and Green streets was heard. Joseph Bouley accused Martin Bertquist of reckless driving. Bouley admitted seeking arrest to force higher payment beyond $25, and Judge Keegan dismissed the case after a warning about mixing civil and criminal matters.
A joint meeting of T W Hydecamp S of A V and Roland Smith post A L voted to move the annual Memorial Day parade to 10 30 a m from 2 p m to allow a fitting observance and afternoon for other activities. A five man crew under Supt. Edmund P. Briggs began repairs on the wood fenders of Pier 3, damaged by ice last winter. Five timbers, 12 by 12 inches, will be replaced by 58 foot timbers, with oak facing 6 by 12 inches in 20 foot lengths placed vertically. Removal of the facing is difficult. No time estimate is given.
A brush fire at Coopers Beach Owls Head caused alarm due to high winds and prompted a militia call for Rockland fire alarm assistance. The blaze was contained early afternoon, confined to a small wooded area with volunteer aid.

North Bath milkman David Henderson recalls Friday night when a two year old red Guernsey heifer went on a rampage. The cow charged the boy milking a scene as she leaped fences and vanished into the woods. Henderson asks locals to report sightings of the stray animal.
