Federal protest to petition for $4000 deduction
In Sagadahoc Probate court federal attorneys challenged Harry F. Morse s bid to deduct 4000 from his first and final accounting of the late Charles W Morse estate arguing the government has a claim on the bond to lift Groton Iron Works. The hearing before Probate Judge Arthur J Dunton spanned the day with government counsel Myron Avery and William Guggenheim tied to an old bond backing the Emergency Fleet Corp. The case centers on whether the U S government or the estate pays the 4000 deduction and if Maine statutes of limitations apply to the federal claim.
